Thinking about getting a chemical peel? Read this first!!!!
Chemical peels have been around for a long time for good reason – they work. A professional peel could heal your skin woes, from acne scars and uneven skin tone to melasma and fine lines and wrinkles.
Buuuuuuuut….. not all peel solutions are created equal and glycolic acid peels belong where they came from – in the 80s!! Here are the best and latest chemical peel options in 2018!
1. LACTIC ACID // Move over Glycolic, and welcome you’re big (literally) sister Lactic! Lactic acid is naturally derived from milk and while it focuses on exfoliation, it also helps HYDRATE the skin and bring out your youthful glow! We have a special formulation at the clinic that actually includes Lactic + Lilac Stem Cells for brightening even the toughest of brown spots!
2. SALICYLIC ACID // Move over (again) Glycolic, and welcome your cousin Salicylic! Salicylic acid, derived from willow bark, works MUCH BETTER on acne than 💨 old fart 💨 glycolic. Why you ask? Well, Salicylic acid is the best to exfoliate INSIDE of the pores (Scrabble word tip #1: lipophilic) while glycolic DOESN’T get into the pores, as it doesn’t like oil and prefers water-based environments (Scrabble word tip #2: hydrophilic). Bye bye glycolic, hello clear skin with salicylic acid!
3. RETINOIC ACID // This prescription Vitamin A peel REALLY works on reducing oil production AND is the ONLY peel to really shrink pores. Yep, glycolic doesn’t do that!! (just sayin’)
4. COMBINATION PEELS // SkinScience has an expertise in peels and all things exfoliating. That’s why we sometimes combine exfoliating molecules within the same peel solution to max out results! [Lactic + Kojic], [Lactic + Salicylic + Resorcinol], you name it, we probably have it!!
